Trade fairs are platforms for innovation and communication. They not only offer you the right setting to present new products and technologies, but also deliver important background information on current movements within the industry. The third Cologne swimming pool and wellness forum that the three associations, bsw, IAKS and BSB have organized with Koelnmesse had offered you the opportunity to find out about the latest developments.
The international movement towards sustainable construction is once again advancing and has made great progress in building technology. "Green Building" seeks to increase energy efficiency and promote the use of renewable sources of energy. Ecological and energy properties should become transparent when construction is still in planning. Green Building designs for energy-intensive buildings, sports centres and swimming pools are also taking lifecycles into account. By doing so, purchasing, operation and maintenance costs can be predicted and can accordingly be better planned. As well as houses, swimming pools have also started to be designed according to "passive house" standards ("preventing heat loss and optimizing natural heating"), and should be being built in the near future.
Swimming? – But safely!
A new European standard for operators of hotel and public pools went into effect this year. EN 15288 stipulates new safety requirements for both the planning and general operation of publicly accessible swimming pools that now reflect the state of technology.
We have invited the trade fair visitors to discuss the new safety regulations with the people who "made" the standard. Mr Lionello Ambrosi from the European standard institute CEN and Mr Helmut Stände of DIN have been presenting the goals and content of the new standard as well as giving tips on how to meet the new requirements. In addition, presenters from the field have been reporting on implementation challenges and triumphs.
aquanale has been celebrating with a special event
In 1969, Hinke Schwimmbad was the first company in the world to build a stainless steel communal swimming pool. Since that time, stainless steel has established itself as a material in the construction of swimming pools. It is particularly hard to imagine communal pool construction without stainless steel: "The smooth and fine pored surface prevents particles of dirt from adhering to it. That makes it incredibly easy to satisfy the necessary sanitary requirements in pools that get a lot of use like public facilities," says Gerhard Hinke, the head of operations of the Hinke Schwimmbad group. He adds: "Stainless steel swimming pools are also resistant to corrosion and their metallic shine creates a very sophisticated look." Stainless steel has also gained a presence as a material for private pools. "In this arena there is a particularly high demand for stainless steel accessories," says Marc Hölter, the managing director of G. Eichenwald GmbH & Co. KG, offering a wide variety of products under the slogan "ideas in stainless steel".
That was reason enough to dedicate a special event for stainless steel as a material.
