The public value and SROI of physical activity and recreation infrastructure
Sports and recreation facilities are too often judged solely on their cost rather than their value to people and society. This session will explore how we can reframe the discussion by treating this infrastructure as a strategic investment in health, community, and well-being. We will look at practical tools for measuring and communicating the full spectrum of benefits, from economic to social impact. By moving from quantitative, asset-based metrics to qualitative, people-centered metrics, we can change the equation, demonstrate broader public value, and ensure that our facilities deliver meaningful, lasting outcomes for the communities they serve.
