Microgate is an internationally active technology company based in Bolzano, South Tyrol (Italy), specializing in high-precision measurement and timing systems. Founded in 1989 by brothers Vinicio and Roberto Biasi, Microgate has built a global reputation for technical excellence and innovation.

All solutions are developed and manufactured in-house — from electronics and firmware to software and mechanical components. The company employs around 40 people, including a strong team of engineers, who work across four main areas: professional sports timing, training and performance, medical rehabilitation, and astronomical applications.

A key focus is Professional Timing (BE Timing). Microgate made history by developing the world’s first wireless stopwatch system for alpine skiing, eliminating the need for complex cable installations. Today, the company offers a comprehensive range of timing solutions for almost every sport. Organizations in over 50 countries — including international sports federations and professional teams — rely on Microgate’s accuracy and reliability.

In 2023, Microgate expanded its capabilities by acquiring Alge Timing, a renowned Austrian company specializing in swimming and athletics timing systems. Together, they form one of the world’s leading groups in professional sports timekeeping.
